Welcome to the Science Faculty

Science is an important part of understanding the world. Students will hopefully develop a range of skills, including generic study skills. Science uses mathematics as a tool and we will help them develop these skills. All pupils need to be able to read questions and information, so science also helps with literacy and problem solving. These days we need to ensure we have IT skills and these will also be used in science lessons. Practical lessons develop team working and manipulative dexterity. Their thinking skills and ability to work independently will be encouraged at all times.

We have the following members of staff:
Dr G Williams (Head of Faculty)
Mr T Clifford (H/O of Physics)
Mrs M Langham (H/O of Biology)
Mr R Hallam
Mr R Huddart
Mr R Lacey
Ms V Lee
Miss N Neville
Dr L Caldwell
Mr T Morris
We currently deliver the following courses

Years 7 & 8:
We look at a range of science topics trying to develop scientific skills as well as broadening knowledge and understanding.
KS4 AQA Triple Science GCSE:
(Biology, Chemistry and Physics)
AQA GCSE Core Science:
This course is a basic Science course leading to one GCSE. It is 75% examination and 25% assessed test on an investigation.
AQA GCSE Additional Science:
This course is a continuation of the Core Science and leads to one GCSE.
BTEC Level 2 Applied Science: extended certificate or higher if done to merit or distinction.
Would be pass level equivalent to two C Grade GCSE's. This course involves students producing work throughout the course, which shows that they have grasped the ideas and concepts.
KS5:
AS and A2 courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
