Welcome to the PE Faculty
We offer a broad and varied Curriculum with the aim of developing sporting interest and fitness. The aim of the PE department is to provide the platform for sporting involvement varying from fun participation to elite competition.
Our broad extra curricular programme aims to encourage participation for all; achieving success in a variety of sports from girl’s basketball to boy’s rugby.
Our department is currently made up of the following members of staff:

KS3 PE
During your time in this stage you will experience differing activities to progress your co-ordination, aesthetic appreciation, technique and enhance your confidence in the physical environment. You will develop your ability to lead and learn about warming up safely the body and cooling down post exercise.
KS4 PE
To refine techniques into skills and to further enhance pupil’s strategic and tactical awareness. The pupils will have the opportunity to develop their leadership abilities through a Sports Leader’s course.

KS4 - GCSE PE
You will: Develop your knowledge and practical skills In a range of physical activities.
Examine the effects of exercise and how training can improve performance.
Find ways to improve your own performances in a variety of roles.
Identify ways to develop and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle through participation in physical activity.
Appreciate the benefits of promoting ‘sport for all’.
It is an exam based course split with 60% coursework and 40% theory exam.
Btec Sport
The department has just started to deliver the Btec Sport course to aid pupils who prefer modular based work rather than an exam based format. The pupils will gain the same information as the GCSE but will be assessed using a differing means.
A Level Physical Education
The specification offers students the opportunity to experience and develop an interest in a variety of roles in sport such as performer, official and/or leader/coach at AS and then be able to specialize in one at A2.
The content of the course will address current contemporary topics in sport such as the impact n the use of ergogenic aids, technology and increasing commercialisation of sport. The course also develops the pupil’s knowledge of the human body, biomechanics and how the sporting mind affects performance.
