Welcome to the Humanities Faculty

The Humanities Department contains the four core disciplines of Geography, History, Religious Education and Sociology.

Humanities subjects are not only a very valuable qualifications, which will develop the many essential skills that employers demand, they are essential in order to understand the world in which we live.

We run a number of field trips throughout the year, whether to investigate the impact of tourism on rural areas; to the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, or in partnership with the Languages faculty to Berlin.

Key Stage 3:
Students build a broad knowledge of all disciplines, providing a solid base to then specialise in.

Key Stage 4 & 5:
Edexcel GCSE & AQA AS/A2 Geography:
Everyday global issues from climate change to our ever changing cities.

Edexcel GCSE & AQA AS/A2 History: Research, presentation and discussion from the American West through to Soviet Dictator Stalin.

WJEC GCSE & WJEC AS Ethics: Learning about and from religion and gaining an understanding of faith traditions today.

OCR GCSE & AQA AS/A2 Sociology: Encouraging students to think about the world in which they live and take part in discussion and debate.

Edexcel L1/L2 BTEC Humanities / Public Services: A vocational qualification, ideal for entry into the emergency, civil or public services. Successful students leave with the equivalent of least 2 GCSE’s grade at C.
