Welcome to the Design and Technology Faculty

Our aim is to provide each student with an in depth appreciation of the design process and its impact on the products they both design and make at Hayfield and purchase as consumers.

To encourage this understanding students experience a wide range of subjects and projects across Key stage 3, 4 and 5.

Design disciplines covered at Hayfield include Food Technology, Catering, Product Design, Graphic Products, Resistant Materials and Engineering. Through this wide spectrum of Design and Technology subjects we aim to develop enjoyment through hands on experience of practical lessons and more academic paper based exercises.

Throughout these experiences we provide students opportunities to gain qualifications at AS, A2, GCSE and BTEC level 2.

Key Stage 3:
Students build up experiences of Food technology, Graphic products, and Product design. They rotate through these subjects on a 12 week basis.
