Since becoming a specialist school in Mathematics and Computing we have enjoyed additional funding which has enabled us to enhance our ICT and mathematics teaching areas, expand our curriculum and employ teaching assistants.
Through the specialism, we have offered enhancement opportunities to students at Hayfield ranging through university and business lectures, additional classes like Computer Club for Girls, and industrial visits. More recently we have been keen to offer our expertise to the local community through a number of ICT community projects. |

In September 2010 the Hayfield School achieved the prestigious International School Award 2010-2013, recognition by the British Council that the school displays an international dimension:
Over the coming years we hope to build upon the many activities which ran during 2009-2010, including:
Live links to South Georgia in the USA and Ghana in Africa.
Sharing information about our schools with pupils in Germany.
Over 150 Hayfield students travelled on school trips abroad to Germany, France and Austria.

As a second school specialism, languages play an important role in our students curriculum. We're also strongly committed to developing community projects to get local people involved in modern foreign languages.
We work closely with University PGCE and GTP Students to help them move into the profession and are in partnership with other schools in the area to improve the language provision for all.
We try to provide a rich and diverse curriculum so that students celebrate their language learning throughout the year. |
